Ashburton Res 3 - Kingsteignton Res 4
In a game which could have gone either way, Kingsteignton Athletic have progressed into the third round of the Fred Hewings Cup, Steve Law opened the scoring after 10 minutes after charging down a keepers clearance, Ashburton equalised through a great freekick after 25 minutes, and then went ahead due to some sloppy defending from kings'. Neil Rooke equalised just before the break a shot from 30 yards which the keeper paried into his own net. Kingsteignton started the second half much better than they finished the first, Curtis Beetschen and Steve Law worked hard to make openings and Kingsteignton began to pass the ball with more urgency. Ashburton took the lead against the run of play after 55 minutes, Neil Rooke bag his brace after 70 minutes a goal which was almost identical to his first, with the game seamingly going to extra time Ashburton had one last attempt to steal the game a volley from just inside the box which was saved superbly by Russ Faulkner at full stretch. Kingsteignton sealed the game in the 91st minute Graham Disbury scoring a fantastic trade mark lob from a acute angle a finish that was worthy to win any game.
