Kingsteignton Athletic visited Hele Rovers' Acorn Centre, with both teams needing three points, the game started slowly with Hele Rovers taking the lead inside the opening 10 minutes, Dejan Maric won a simple header from inside the 6 yard box after some slack marking from Kingsteignton, Kingsteignton levelled after 25 minutes, when Liam Dore burst through midfield before being hauled down on the edge of the box, the resulting free-kick was taken by captain Rik Reynolds, who bent the ball into the top corner, though the shot took a deflection off of a Hele defender, which left ex-Kingsteignton keeper Sean Hunter stranded. Kingsteignton took the lead five minutes before the break, Dore again the architect picking up the ball in midfield, before slotting to Paul Russell who laid the ball to Gareth Law who smashed in from seven or eight yards.The second half Kingsteignton started well and had a few chances to entend their lead, but for good defending by Hele, Hele took the lead after scoring two goals in quick succession, Dejan Maric claimed the second goal though it took several deflections on the way to Kingsteignton's net. The third goal was taken superbly by 17 year old Brook Ward, who burst past Luke Bates and smashed the ball past Russell Faulkner after catching Kingsteignton with a counter attack. Kingsteignton dug in and found an equalliser late on after Rik Renolds cross was met by substitute Myke Sanders bullet header. Kings could have snatched it late on Gareth Law hitting the post.

Kingsteignton faced a Newton United side doing well in the league this season on a bitterly cold afternoon at Bakers Park. Kingsteignton controlled the game from the outset and took an early lead, Lee Ranson capitalising on a defensive mistake to lob the ball over the keeper from 25 yards for his first goal for the club. Kingsteignton again pressed forward, another lobbed effort from Craig Pidwell almost catching the keeper out again, long range efforts from Doo and Clausen putting more pressure on United. The Kingsteignton defense were undone from a long throw-in, a near post flick on was finished well by the United striker. Kinsteignton took the lead again, Ranson receiving the ball from a throw-in, tured the defender but had his cross blocked, the defender dwelled on the ball on the edge of the six yard box and was punished for it, Ranson stealing the ball away from him and finishing from six yards. Kingsteignton were again undone by a long throw in, a glanced header at the near post looping into the net.

The second half showed more of the same, midfielder Craig Pidwell at the heart of every attacking move was influential throughout the game. Having struggled with defending balls into the box all game United took the lead, a close range header from a corner punishing the Rams defense who were solid during open play were again undone from a set piece. Kingsteignton piled on the pressure in the last 20 minutes, the tireless Charlie Tucker saw his effort hit the post, Curtis Beetschen saw his quickly taken free kick saved well by the keeper and chances from substitute Jason Eddy and Craig Pidwell were cleared off the line. Not for the first time this season the performance did not match the results for Kings who will take a lot of positives from the game.

Kingsteignton Athletic hosted Stoke Gabriel reserves, who over the past three seasons have battered Kingsteignton in every match. Kings started brightly in what was an even first half. Kingsteignton could have taken an early lead on as Rik Reynolds driving shoot was paried by the Stoke keeper, but there was no one on the end of the cross. Kingsteignton had another great chance midway through the first half as Russ Williams long ball was brought down cleverly by Paul Russell, but the chipped effert went just over the bar.

Stoke Gabriel clawed themselves back into the match and could have taken the lead, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. The second half, was an even match Stoke Gabriel worked the ball well but struggled to break Kingsteignton's rugged midfield and defence, Kingsteignton took the lead on the hour mark, Paul Russell's flick was met by Ian Cornock, who tidily tucked the ball past the Stoke Keeper. the final Ten minutes Kingsteignton were pressed right in their own half, but were still dangerous on the counter attack, Kingsteignton could have made it two-nil when substitute Gareth Law picked up the ball in the oppositions half and drove at the defence, but the Stoke defence were equal to it. Kings held on to a vital 1-0 victory.

Kingsteignton played hosts to Beesands Rovers who have won five of their opening six games, Beesands started the more attacking, Kingsteignton defended for their lives but found themselves 2-0 after going nap for a few minutes midway through the first half, Kingsteignton then began to create a few chances for themselves, but the beesands defence proved to strong.

The second half was a much more open match, Kingsteignton made some better chances but were caught on the break in the 80th minute and were looking at a 3-0 defeat, before Ashley Beetschen scored for Kings late on from the penalty spot, after winning the penalty.

After last weeks humiliating defeat to local rivals Teign Village Kingsteignton looked to bounce back in a early season must win game between the two basement teams in the league.

Kingsteignton started the match the better side and created several early chances, Ashley Beetschen opened the scoring after 15minutes, slotting into the bottom corner, after strike partner Lee Ranson's inch perfect assist. Kingsteignton had a few chances to double their lead in the first half, The visitors were looking threatening every time they attacked and Lee Ranson almost doubled his side's lead but struck his shot just wide after shaking off the challenge in the box. Patrick Karkeek's 25 Yard Freekick was heading into the top corner before the East Allington keeper chipped it over the bar,

The second half both teams battled hard and the game was more open Kingsteignton had some good chances but lacked confidence in front of goal, Ashley Beetschen had the best opening but drove his strike inches wide of the top corner, Patrick Karkeek also rattled the bar from just inside the oppositions half, Craig Pidwell settled the game late on, Charlie Tuckers throw in finding Pidwell who beat the defence and slotted calmly past the East Allington keeper.

Goalkeeper Steve Cocker was the hero for Babbacombe Corries' second string as they knocked out Kingsteignton Athletic Reserves, a team three divisions their senior in the South Devon League standings.

With the tie going to a penalty shoot-out, Cocker not only saved three spot-kicks from Graham Disbury, Ashley Beetschen and Charlie Tucker and then tucked away one himself.

Tom Ince and Adam Setters also scored from the spot for Corries as they won the shootout 3-2. Kingsteignton's penalties were scored by Joe Edworthy and Jason

After a goalless 90 minutes, Kingsteignton must have thought they'd done enough when they took the lead with 10 minutes of extra time remaining. Craig Pidwell Slotting into the bottom corner.

But Corries managed to force penalties when central defender Tom Gill chased a through ball and slotted home after rounding keeper Nigel Strickland.

Teignmouth Reserves remain two points ahead of Stoke at the summit after easing to a 5-2 victory over pointless Kingsteignton Athletic Reserves. It took the Teigns just two minutes to open the scoring – Alan Stuckey was fouled in the penalty area and Andy Breslan made no mistake from the spot. Pat Twitchin doubled the lead on 21 minute, turning home Stuckey's headed pass.
Another penalty led to Stuckey adding the third ten minutes into the second half. This time Breslan's spot kick was saved but Stuckey was there to fire in the rebound. Stuckey was on hand again to grab the fourth shortly after. Graham Disbury pulled one back for Kingsteignton but the Teigns' four-goal advantage was soon restored when Jamie Bowen volleyed into the net.
Disbury added a second for Athletic – smashing in a 30 yard volley from the right wing – three minutes from time, but it was too little too late.

GOALKEEPER Dan Woods scored from deep inside his own half as Harbertonford beat Kingsteignton Athletic 3-2 in Division One.

Whether he meant it or not is another matter, but Woods found the back the net with a free-kick which bounced over his opposite number.

The goal handed Fords an early lead, and it was 2-0 by the 20th minute as Rory Kneebone — ironically, he went off at half time with a knee injury — finished off a fine team move.

Kingsteignton rallied to pull level before the interval, but Fords weren't to be denied as Chris Salter headed home what turned out to be the winner in the second half.

Kingsteignton Athletic travelled to Teignmouth, facing a mammoth task, with only 11 players and Teignmouth flying high, the game could not have started much worse for Kingsteignton who were a goal down within three minutes, after conceding a penalty. Kings went 2-0 down shortly after Pat Twichen scored after coming on as an early sub with his first touch. Kings picked up there game but were constantly defending the second half was a more open game Kingsteignton went 3-0 down after the referee awarded a bizarre penalty to Teignmouth, Kings keeper Nigel Strickland saved Andy Breslan's penalty, but the followup was pounced on by the Teignmouth striker. Graham Disbury scored his first goal of the season for Kingsteignton after latching onto Joe Edworthy's shot. The match started with an incredible goal Ford's keeper Dan Wood sent a free-kick in from his own box to open the scoring at Broaddpark and his side went on to win 3-2. Kingsteignton travelled to Harbertonford for their SDFL Divison one fixture, Kingsteignton started brightly but found themselves a goal down, When a Fords midfielder broke the offside trap and just beat Kingsteignton's Russell Faulkner to the ball 25 yards out just before half time.

The second half Kingsteignton applied more pressure to Harbertonford's back four, which soon paid off after Jack Smiths' shot was tipped onto the crossbar, Ian Cornock was on hand to lash the rebound into the back of the net. Both sides had their chances to win the match. Fords best chance came when they hit the post and Steve Payne cleared it on the line. Kingsteignton could have won the match in the dying minutes Rik Reynolds knocked the ball to substitute Paul Russell in the middle of the 6 yard box and he smashed it towards the open net, but somehow the keeper came from nowhere to get something on it.

Both teams will be looking to go one better next week as the two teams meet a broadpark.

Kingsteignton Athletic reserves hosted Stoke Fleming who have been hammering teams for fun in the opening few weeks of this season. The game started brightly for Kingsteignton who could have taken the lead in the opening few seconds but squandered the chance, Stoke Fleming passed the ball quickly and seemed a few yards quicker than Kingsteignton and were rewarded mid-way through the first half, the goal came about when Kings failed to clear their lines, Stoke Fleming had three chances to score Russ Faulkner saved the first shot, Joe Edworthy blocked the second before Anthony Matthews lashed the ball into the bottom corner. Kings continued to battle and had a chance to level before half time when Carl Whiteway's great cross was mistimed by Graham Disbury.

The Second half Kingsteignton started awfully and were 3-0 down within minutes of the restart, the final score finished 3-0 to Stoke Fleming with Kingsteignton still in the relegation zone awaiting their first point.

Kingsteignton dominated the early play against a battling Riviera Spurs team with only 10 players; the breakthrough came midway through the first half after a Will Irwin pass released Rik Reynolds to run clear and finish neatly across the goal keeper into the far corner 0-1. Towards the end of the half Riviera started to show their fighting spirit and began to have the lions share of possession, after the referee awarded a dubious free kick just outside the penalty area, they duly fired the ball into the top corner left hand to leave the score 1-1 at halftime.

With their ears still ringing after Rob Laws rallying half time team talk, Kingsteignton again started the stronger with a blistering 5 minute spell where the Kingsteignton scored twice. The first was a solid strike from Ian Cornock who had beaten the offside trap to run on and beat the goal keeper at his near post 1-2, Kings third goal again came from Rik Reynolds who neatly finished of a move involving Luke Bates and Ian Cornock who unselfishly squared the ball across the box for Rik 1-3. Again further good play from Kingsteignton in the Riviera box resulted in Ian Cornock being upended resulting in a penalty, Rik Reynolds stepped up confidently to complete his hatrick only to pull his spot kick wide of the mark. Kingsteignton then relaxed and almost let Riviera back into the game, but with the introduction of the 3 substitutes and resolute defending the team repelling the Riviera attacks to see out the final whistle, thoroughly deserving their first league victory of the season.

Kingsteignton Athletic started their season a bare 11 Players, the first half Brixham dominated, utilising a huge kick from the keeper, Brixham took the lead from a free kick, the shot took a deflection before former Kingsteignton Player Liam Price worng footed the Kingsteignton Keeper, Kingsteignton pressed forward but found themselves 2-0 down again a silly freekick was punished by Price, Kings had chances to get back in the game Ashley Beetschen and Charlie Tucker linking up well, Kingsteignton had a goal disallowed for being offside.

The second half was a much more even contest Kingsteignton went down to ten men early on due to injury, and battled thoughout the second half but two late goals for Brixham killed the game.

Kingsteignton Welcomed Newton Abbot Spurs reserves to Broadpark in the first local derby of the season, Newton Spurs started the better of the two sides and dominated possession, Kingsteignton had the better of the chances though, Ian Cornock had a chance to take the lead after some neat work by Gareth Law but his shot was blocked on the line whilst Spurs keeper was stranded out of his goal.
Kingsteignton had other chances to take the lead, Rik Reynolds hitting the side netting. Spurs took the lead after half an hour a superb strike from the edge of the area lobbing debut keeper Andy Lowe, Kings could have levelled on half time but Deyoung's diving header going inches wide. The second half was a little more subdued with neither side creating too many opportunities to note, Spurs sealed the game after 75 minutes when some sloppy defending was punished by Mitchell Symes.

Kingsteignton travelled to Loddiswell for the opening game of the season, Kingsteignton started brightly but found themselves a goal down early on, the goal came from nowhere a long range lob which dipped at just the right time, Ian Cornock levelled for Kings midway through the first half after outpacing the Loddiswell defence and chipping the diving Loddiswell keeper.

Loddiswell re-took the lead late on in the first half, Russ Faulkner parried an inital shot into the path of the waiting Loddiswell striker. The second half Kingsteignton pressed further up the field but found themselves 4-1 down after some sloppy defending and a wicked deflection, Kingsteignton pulled a goal back late on again Ian Cornock finding the net during a goalline scramble. Russ Faulkner also saved a penalty in the last minute of the match.

TORQUAY pub side Dolphin Inn are the new Torbay Sunday League Supplementary Cup holders following the weekend's 2-1 victory over Division Two rivals Kingsteignton Athletic 3rds in the final at Ipplepen.

And they did it despite: A pre-match threat to boycott the game; falling behind after five minutes; losing defender Casey Roberts with a broken ankle; and having their goalkeeper red-carded.

The threatened boycott had dominated the pre-match build-up inasmuch as Dolphin argued they couldn't raise a team with four of the squad committed to playing for their Saturday club, a catalogue of injuries, one or more at a christening and a number ineligible for the final because they'd made insufficient appearances for the club.

In the event, they were able to name five substitutes in addition to a starting line-up that included strikers Craig Duff and Shane Shobbrook, both of whom went on to play for Galmpton United Gents the same day in the South West Peninsula League.

The game itself was never short of incident, with Dolphin falling behind to a Tom Reeves goal in the fifth minute and then losing Roberts 20 minutes later when he was transported by ambulance to hospital with two broken bones in an ankle and a fracture at the base of the same leg.

TSFL Division Two leaders Kingsteignton Athletic 3rds remain on course for a league and cup double following Sunday's 4-1 victory over Spartans in the first round of the Torbay Sunday League's Supplementary Cup.

Not that it all went to plan for the Broad Park Road side after recent new signing James Horn was red carded along with Spartans' John Ross following an incident five minutes before the interval, but they were an Alex Harding goal (after 20 minutes) to the good at the time.

Luke Dendy (55 minutes), Tom Reeves (64) and Harding again (66) also found the target after the break, with midfielder Aaron Uglow replying for Spartans to narrow the score to 2-1 at one point.

In fact, Trinidad and Torbaygo surrendered all three after a 10-0 hiding away to Kingsteignton Athletic 3rds, while leaders The Dolphin Inn were held to a 2-2 draw by Torbay Wanderers.

Striker Jake Elms was tormentor-in-chief for Kingsteignton, opening the scoring at Broadpark before completing his hat-trick with further strikes in the 30th and 71st minutes.

The Dolphin Inn were grateful for the points after beating Kingsteignton Athletic 3rds 4-2 at Torquay's King George V Playing Fields.

Kingsteignton were keen for the game to be abandoned at one stage after referee Phil Davey was unable to carry on having suffered ligament trouble at the back of a leg. In the end, Dolphin manager Ken Thompson took the whistle with his side 3-0 to the good, only for Kingsteignton to pull it back to 3-2 with strikes from Jake Elms (in the 64th minute) and new signing Kevin Orrell five minutes later.

Dolphin held on, however, stretching their lead to 4-2 with a final goal from Louis Bergin. Earlier, Bergin, Shane Shobbrook and Kevin Bailey, with a long range screamer, had scored to provide Dolphin with a 3-0 lead.

HE YOUTH teams of Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle will top the bill at the first three-day South Devon Football, Food & Drink Festival at Bovey Tracey this weekend.

The young Gulls, in only their second season since reforming last summer, will hope to put down a marker for the campaign ahead - especially if they should meet their Puma Alliance Youth League rivals.

United are still searching for a successor to joint youth manager Paul Compton, whose contract was not renewed at the end of last season.

But, in the interim, the club's College Coordinator Robbie Herrera, an experienced man in his own right, is running the department with Compton's colleague Matt Williams.

The original field of eight teams has come down to six, but that means that the whole tournament will be played on Bovey's No.1 Mill Marsh Park pitch.

United, Bovey Tracey and Kingsteignton Athletic are in League A, and Argyle, Dawlish Town and Topsham Town in League B.

The competition (matches run for 30mins each-way) will kick off with United against Bovey Tracey tomorrow at 5.30pm, followed by Argyle against Topsham Town at 7pm.

Saturday fixtures feature Bovey v Kingsteignton (12 noon), Topsham v Dawlish (2pm), Torquay v Kingsteignton (4pm) and Plymouth v Dawlish (6pm).

After a 5th & 6th Play-Off at 1pm, Sunday matches will see the Winner of League A play the Runner-up in League B at 3pm and the Winner of League B against the Runner-up in League A at 5pm.

The Final will start 7.30pm.

NEWTON Abbot Spurs and Kingsteignton Athletic over-35s have an added incentive for wanting to attract as many as possible to their annual match at Newton Abbot Recreation Ground tomorrow week (10.30am).

Normally, it's a precursor to watching the FA Cup final on the clubhouse television screen and catching up on past glories over a drink or two.

However, match organiser and former Spurs player-chairman, Chris Passmore, reports that both teams are intent on a little something extra this year by way of raising money to help three-year old Newton Abbot boy Paddy Breslan combat Dravet Syndrone.

It's a severe form of epilisy that is life limiting, and can be triggered by overheating, over excitement, tiredness, stress, flashing lights - to name but a few.

Paddy is also showing signs of ADHD and autism (quite normal for Dravet's children) whereby his seizures are frequent, which is where the Spurs and Kingsteignton over-35s both want and believe they can help.

Explained Passmore: "Paddy likes nothing more than to play in the backyard at home, but it can cause all sorts of concerns for his mother, Fiona.

"He can't go outside without head protection, so we want to raise money to help cover the back yard with fitted flooring so that Paddy doesn't hurt himself, especially his head, if he has a seizure playing outside."

Also high on the agenda for Spurs on May 30 is revenge for 12 months ago when Kingsteignton over 35s won the match 3-2.

Unfortunately, they still have the same options to choose from in the form of Passmore, Russ Petersen, Tony Mawby, Kim Cotton, Chris Bassett, Steve Paton, Chris Breslan, Mike 'Leo' Stuart, Jeff Franke and Adrian Fisher, who is travelling from London to play in the game.

The 18-year-old from Paignton will initially be involved next weekend when the English players meet up for the away game at Porthmadog on Monday week.

And he will also report for the home game at the FA's training and rehabilitation centre at Lilleshall the following Monday, despite receiving a head injury in the final trial at RAF Cosford.

Former Torquay United striker Gareth Law has joined the Sandy Lane set-up ostensibly in the role of club physio as part of on-going studies to qualify as a sports physiotherapist.

However, the fact that he's kept active playing for Kingsteignton Athletic in the Premier Division of the WBW Solicitors South Devon League, has prompted player-manager Adam Shearer to name Law in his squad of 14.

"He's first and foremost the club's new phsyio, but we will also use him as an option on the field," said Shearer.

"He won't start tomorrow, but there's every chance he could be on the subs' bench."

Shearer insists Law is not a replacement for goalscorer Antony Lynch, who left Dawlish last week to join Buckland Athletic in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League.

Kingsteignton Athletic reserves travelled to Prison side Channings Wood, for the first fifteen minutes the prisoners dominated possession but Kings showed better organisation than in recent weeks and were resolute.
