
Kingsteignton Athletic hosted Stoke Gabriel reserves, who over the past three seasons have battered Kingsteignton in every match. Kings started brightly in what was an even first half. Kingsteignton could have taken an early lead on as Rik Reynolds driving shoot was paried by the Stoke keeper, but there was no one on the end of the cross. Kingsteignton had another great chance midway through the first half as Russ Williams long ball was brought down cleverly by Paul Russell, but the chipped effert went just over the bar.
Stoke Gabriel clawed themselves back into the match and could have taken the lead, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. The second half, was an even match Stoke Gabriel worked the ball well but struggled to break Kingsteignton's rugged midfield and defence, Kingsteignton took the lead on the hour mark, Paul Russell's flick was met by Ian Cornock, who tidily tucked the ball past the Stoke Keeper. the final Ten minutes Kingsteignton were pressed right in their own half, but were still dangerous on the counter attack, Kingsteignton could have made it two-nil when substitute Gareth Law picked up the ball in the oppositions half and drove at the defence, but the Stoke defence were equal to it. Kings held on to a vital 1-0 victory.
